Jack had been sitting on his bunk for the past half hour, telling himself to relax; the government would defeat Alix and possibly even bring back his nephew, but he was wondering what would happen once they did. They’re still going to go after Caleo. Jack told to himself. And, will they even risk leaving me alive? Or little Nolan? They’ll probably kill him or, worse, study him until they find out that he isn’t Caleo’s. He looked around the room again, wishing there was something he could do. He was informed there were two guards posted at his door when they threw him in here but he hadn’t heard a single footstep or voice outside the door since they left.

Slowly he stretched, glancing around for any cameras in the room. Not spotting any, he got to his feet and casually walked to the door. He listened for a moment, trying to hear for any signs of someone on the other side. He tried to turn the knob when nothing came, but it was locked.

Damn it! Of course it wouldn’t be that easy. Jack banged on the door with his fist. “Is there a bathroom? I have to pee.” He hollered then waited but no one responded. “Hello, did you hear me? I have to pee.” Jack pounded on the door again and pressed his ear against it but still heard nothing.

He lowered himself down and looked through the vent at the bottom of the door. “No feet,” he whispered to himself.

Jack pushed on the vent but it wouldn’t budge. “Son of a gun.” Jack laid down on his back and kicked against it. The vent moved and the paint around the edges cracked. He kicked it again and waited listening for soldiers' boots but none came. “They really left me? I guess the government is spread pretty thin at the moment.” Jack kicked the vent again and again until it finally broke away, landing noisily on the tile floor outside the room.

Without waiting for anyone to come running, Jack crawled through the opening and took off running down the hall. He passed one set of the double doors he had came through following Craft and pressed his ear to the frame. “No voices? This is way too easy. Do they really have no security down here?” he whispered to himself as he pushed open the door and slipped through. Please, please, please let him have been in too big of a hurry to remember to clean up the… “Yes!” Jack said running into the room and finding the cuff guns and his glove still scattered across the table in the meeting room.

Jack picked up one of the cuff guns, slid the ammo cartridge into place and flicked off the safety. He grabbed his gloves off the table and shoved them into his pocket, wishing the blue stone was still attached but figured he might have time to fix that if they actually escaped this place.
